Uniqlo will be coming to Union Square in Fall 2012.
You read that right! Uniqlo in San Francisco!
It will be taking over the 29,000 square feet space of 111 Powell Street that currently houses footwear-megalith DSW. Talk about prime location! They are steps away from Union Square and the SF shopping center! Not only that, H&M is right across the street and GAP and Forever 21 are right down the block. The San Francisco flagship will be the center of all West Coast operations for the brand and is the fourth total store (the other three are in Manhattan) stateside. They said that they were coming soon and that it was just a matter of finding good retail space. They weren’t kidding!
According to Fast Retailing Chairman, President & CEO Tadashi Yanai, “We are very excited to be opening our first UNIQLO store on the U.S. West Coast in San Francisco, a world leading center in innovative technology. Our plan to open a store on the West Coast is part of our longer-term commitment to expand our presence throughout the United States. We look forward to working closely with the people of San Francisco to help us create the best possible store, and to bringing our high quality, innovative and affordable clothing to the diverse San Francisco community and the wider Bay Area.”
Now I can finally find tops that fit me and how awesome is it that they do free hemming for pants? Just like in Asia!
