xXx: Return of Xander Cage

I remember watching the first Triple-X in theaters and I had to say, I enjoyed watching the Vin Diesel popcorn flick.  Bypassing Ice Cube’s xXx sequel, like Brett Ratner’s X-Men 3, Vin Diesel reprises his role as super punk-rock agent Xander Cage.  I now find myself reading xXx:  Return of Xander Cage – The Official Movie Novelization and just maybe watching this Fast and the Furious wannabe at the multiplexes.

For over a decade Xander Cage has been off the grid by faking his own death.  He is once again called for duty when he finds out that his longtime recruiter/mentor Augustus Gibbons is murdered.  The Macguffin for this xXx flick is “Pandora’s Box.”  The Pandora’s Box is a small hacking device that can send viruses, control satellites and just cause world chaos.  Now Xander Cage and a new team of misfit agents must find the Pandora’s Box and the culprit behind this techno nightmare.

Okay, let’s be honest here, this ain’t no James Bond or high-brow entertainment.  Before I go on, can I say +++ SPOILER ALERT +++  My sixth sense tingled, and I knew that Augustus Gibbons would return from the grave (ie. Nick Fury in Captain America: Winter Solider).  The banter here is so bad is kind of cringe-worthy.  I wondered what’s it like watching these actors say these lines in the movie?  xXx is X-games on steroids with Fast and the Furious stunts.  So if you like big cheesy dialogue and incredible gravity defying action, then yes, you should read this xXx novel and watch the movie.
