DesignerCon: DC Collectibles & Nooligan

While over at Dcon, The Eddie got to talk to Jim Fletcher from DC collectibles about all the cool DC Artist Alley figures they brought to the show. Not only did they showcase the figures that were already released, but also all the figures that would come out in the near future.  We also got to catch up with Nooligan on his collaboration with DC Collectibles, like the Eclipse Nightwing DesignerCon exclusive!

Superhero Body Paint

kaypikemodelingCosplayers usually design and build costumes and props.  Well, this cosplayer doesn’t need it.  Just paint it on the body.  My Retrenders buddy Steve Jang sent me this YouTube video a few months back.  It was on my I’ll watch later, but I finally got around to it and was blown away.  Artist/Model Kay Pike is known for her detailed body paint of superheroes on her naked body.  She is taking superhero body paint to the next level.

Model City Made From Paper by Charles Young

paperartcity00Paperholm is the model city of paper and a wildly imaginative project by artist Charles Young.  Each day, Charles creates a new urban building out of paper and photographs it and publishes it on Instagram.  He uses 200gsm watercolor paper and PVA glue when building these models.

World’s First 3D Printed House

3dprintedhouseThe housing and rental market is crazy here in the SF/Bay Area.  Insane to the membrane.  Time to find a 3D printer and build a house.  Yes, that’s what is happening in Beijing, China.  Chinese company HuaShang Tengda created a two-story 4,305 square feet house using a 3D printing technology.  The building job took 45 days and it supposedly withstands 8.0 earthquakes too!

Art/Design: Taiwan’s Upside/Down House

upsidedownhouseA couple of hundred visitors now visit Huashan Creative Park in Taipei, Taiwan to take a look at an upside down house.  The art project involved a group of Taiwan’s architects and American inspiration.  They built a 3-story American-style house, but just everything upside down.  It cost about $600,000USD and took around 3 months to build.
