I drive a 2003 Honda Accord coupe, but I’m not much of a tuner girl per say, as all I have done is replaced my OEM CD player to a Pioneer DEH-150MP and some expensive Monster car audio cables that I got suckered into buying at Best Buy. I laugh now. Anyhow, these are real tuner girls from Osaka, Japan. This latest episode of Tuner Club Episode #4 takes a look at Nabo Okamoto’s 1996 Honda Civic sedan and Yayoi Torii’s 1991 Honda Civic hatchback.
Honda at the 2015 New York Auto Show introduces the all-new 2016 Civic Concept. This 10th-generation Civic finally has the look and feel of the glory days when everybody wanted a Honda Civic. At the press conference, Honda has stated that various Civic models will be available starting this Fall with the Sedan model first, then a Coupe version, Si Edition, a 5-door hatch and even a Type-R.
GT Channel’s newest Tuner Club is for JDM fanatics and here’s episode 2 & 3. In episode #2, Tuner Club profiles Global Auto’s ’99 Nissan BNR34 GT-R and boss Hiroyuki Yasui. A 900hp track-only Skyline.
When you talk about F1 racing, Honda comes to mind. For Indy racing fans, Honda Performance Development reveals their “Aero Kit” product for 2015 IndyCar.
These JDM-inspired skate decks can be use as decks, but also makes for a great display showcase for automobile fans at their office, man-cave or garage. Check out the many different lines of JDM-styled skate decks at SCW Performance.
Maybe you’re tired from the turkey feast of yesterday and the insanity shopping of today, but we at Retrenders, the ones that have an auto-fetish spent the day at the 2014 San Francisco Auto Show. The SF Auto Show also showcased the Auto Salon, you know, the rides with the crazy bodykits, big wings and wheels low to the ground.
The 2014 Paris Motor Show kicks-off October 4 thru the 19th, and there will be plenty of hot rides and concepts cars. But knowing me, if I was in Europe right now, I would be up in a little town called Munich for Oktoberfest drinking beer and eating all kinds of meats. Now back to the topic at hand, the 2014 Mondial de l’Automobile in Paris will showcase concepts and future offerings to the car buying public. One wish, please bring the UK-spec Honda Civic Type R hatchback to the U.S.
From BOWLS FILMS The Kanjozoku – Osaka’s Infamous Street Racers is a neat mini-documentary on the street racing scene in Osaka and their love of the Honda Civic. If you ever watched the anime Initial D or played Tokyo Xtreme Racer on the Playstation, then this will give you a taste of night street racing on the highways and byways in Japan.
Back in the mid-90s, here in California, Honda’s were all the crazed. The past couple of generations of Honda Civic’s were bland and Acura discontinued the Integra line-up, so Honda didn’t really have that cheap affordable sports compact ride anymore. Now it’s back with this “rice rocket” front-wheel drive car, the 2015 Honda Civic Type R Concept. A 4-cyclinder packing 280 horses looking back to Honda’s rich racing heritage. Too bad this model is only UK Europe-spec.
Watching this video makes me wanna watch the anime Initial D. This Honda Civic Type R EP3 powers up the mountain roads and carves the Swiss Alps like nobody’s business. The Civic Type R corners and sticks to the concrete.
Japanese artist Makoto Komori is well known for his children’s illustration books and his Datto-san series is popular with kids in Japan. It’s kinda of like Pixar’s Cars, but with Komori’s own sense of style and flair.
Guess what’s the biggest news at the New York Auto show. No, it’s not the new Ferrari or a new Lamborghini. And no, it’s not about how fast a car is going from 0 to 60mph, but instead, it’s the vacuum cleaner installed inside the new 2014 Honda Odyssey. The HondaVac is going to be included in the Odyssey Touring Elite and can run for eight minutes when the car is off and longer when the engine is running. This is also a dry vac, so as long as your kids don’t spill their favorite soda on the way to Costco, you’ll have a very clean interior.
On September 15th, 2012, the annual Japanese Classic Car Show (JCCS) took place in Long Beach, California. Long forgotten, this is a “Video from the Vault”, a Retrenders car show video so to speak. Here we tried to conjure up and choreograph an introduction, on the spot, with limited time, and not to mention dealing with all the noise that takes place at a car show. As producers for Retrenders, we want to make things entertaining – So we pulled this video from the vault, slapped some music onto it, and hope that it adds some personality to entertain you.
In this Out-Take video, Lena Love teases me about our set-up and tries to help at the same time; Claim Ho (off camera) was just entertained by watching our mini choreography, and one other JDM Girl of FIRM400 in the video couldn’t make out what we wanted. Oh well, but that’s what happens when you’re at a fabulous car show with tons of noise in the background. To be honest, it was fun just trying to do something.
FYI: This took place at Hot Import Nights (HIN) in Pomona, California back in March 2012.
American talk-show host Jay Leno, recently stopped by Japan to check out some classic JDM rides – the Datsun Fairlady Z and the Toyota 2000GT.
