I sometimes buy LEGO sets just for the minifigures because they are so cute and cool. Most fans display and play with their minifigs, but this guy does one step further by photographing LEGO minifigs in action poses or funny scenes. Photographer Sofiane Samlal aka Samsofy has an eye for photographing LEGO minifigures, while making the political statement or social commentary in our world around us.
A popular Star Wars campaign took place on the icy planet of Rhen Var. Known as the Battle of Rhen Var, LEGO custom builder Markus builds an awesome recreation of the Rebel base with fighters in action and Imperial troopers on the attack. The detailed diorama features LED lights, a command center & hangar bays with X-Wings, Y-Wings and Landspeeders. It was a 10-month build with over 250,000 LEGO bricks and 250 minifigs.
I always find it amazing what LEGO builders can do with LEGO bricks. I remember as a kid buying those Bandai Snap-on Gundam models and this custom LEGO Gundam RX-78-2 Mobile Suit looks just like those model kits. This huge mecha unit is highly detailed with articulation built by LEGO builder JAN LEGO.
One of the most iconic theme park places is the Disneyland castle and LEGO has just announced their Disney castle version. The LEGO Disney Castle 71040 will be one of the neatest builds with over 4,000 pieces and 5 minifigs: Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck and Tinkerbell. The Disney castle will have 5 floors of play features.

Don’t bad guys always have cool HQ’s? If you watched Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the First Order Garrison base was pretty incredible. Now LEGO master builder No More Bricks builds a big custom First Order Garrison HQ. It was displayed in Philadelphia at the 2016 Philly Brick Fest.
For LEGO fans who can build cool stuff, like a detail car, action figure or robot might find it a little easy. Over 500,000 LEGO bricks took to build one of the world’s biggest Star Wars diorama, the Empire’s Death Star. Fifteen LEGO builders took 3 months to build this special effects laden LEGO diorama/playset for Legoland Windsor in the UK.
One of the most iconic large playset toys from the 1980s was the G.I. Joe USS FLAGG aircraft, a monster 7-foot long toy of joy. If I had the room I would own one and another iconic ship, is the SHILED Helicarrier. Only LEGO has come close to making a identical carrier from the Marvel’s Avengers flick, but it wasn’t scaled well enough and to be able to move planes around. From Taiwan, LEGO builder and fan ZiO Chao and his friends Dada, Kimura, Kuan-Wei, Stephanie, Tiger and Will from Formosa LEGO club builds the ultimate SHIELD Helicarrier.

And it comes with 3 cool ghosts: Slimer, Pink Ghost and Blue Ghost.

If you’re on a LEGO budget like me, then I find myself liking this LEGO DC Comics The Batboat Harbor Pursuit 76034. Recently I wanted to get some type of LEGO Age of Ultron product, so I settled for The Hulk Buster Smash 76031, which to me had all the mini-figs I wanted. The Batboat is an okay build, but I like 3 minifigs in this set: Batman, Robin and Deathstroke.
Like my fellow Retrenders super blogger Stevie Jang, we like LEGOs, but we usually follow the instructions. Yes, I like having a the manual in-hand and looking at the pictures to see how it’s been built. I’ve seen lots crazy imaginative LEGO builds, but this MOC Ito Sushi Bar LEGO build is insanely neat. Built by Denil Oh, this sushi bar has incredible details and even right down to the sushi pieces with custom stickers to enhance the diorama restaurant build.
This past July 12, 2015, was the 55th birthday of the childhood toy Etch-A-Sketch. I have lots of fond memories doodling away and asking my parents how is this possible? LEGO builder Kristi gets into the celebration with this LEGO Etch-A-Sketch. Looks like the really thing? Not bad.
One of the biggest live music events on this planet is the Glastonbury Music Festival in Britain. One of the most iconic planet destroyer from the Star Wars franchise was the mighty Death Star. This Death Star is supposed to carry weapons of mass destruction, but instead gets a beauty salon, candy store, pet store and more. Custom LEGO builder Steve Price adds some humor here using bricks from the LEGO Friends line.
This is LEGO Friends:
Many custom LEGO builders are now getting on-board and building customs from the LEGO Friends product line. I like the size of the LEGO Friends mini-figures and now custom builders like 3D Foundry has built custom mecha-suits for the Friends mini-figures.
Of course as everybody knows, yesterday was Star Wars Day and WIRED magazine celebrated by spending $800 bucks in building a LEGO Super Star Destroyer ship and then dropping it. Just like a little kid, sometimes it’s fun watching a big grandiose LEGO being smashed into pieces.

There are many cool toys coming out for the Avengers Age of Ultron film and if you’re like me, on a budget because some people just can’t buy every toy out there. This is great pick, the LEGO Marvel Super Heroes: The Hulk Buster Smash 76031.
