Boxers & Saints by Gene Luen Yang

I’ve been a big fan of artist/writer Gene Luen Yang (American Born Chinese, Avatar: The Last Airbender) and have many of his graphic novels on my book shelf.   He just released his epic 2 volume series Boxers & Saints.

“I wanted each volume to be distinct from the other.  Boxers is much longer, almost twice as long as Saints.  It’s my attempt at a comics version of a Chinese war epic, full of glory and color and bloody battle sequences.  I was heavily inspired by the aesthetics of American superhero comics for this one.” = Gene Luen Yang.
