Let’s not mistake this as GIS Solid State because this is Solid State Tank Girl. And by the way, I don’t understand why Ghost In The Shell always gets these overly complicated long titles! But that’s another topic for another day. This Titan Comics hardbound trade collects the Solid State Tank Girl comic book mini-series that was released in the summer of 2013. Are you ready for another insane adventure?
I’m a 80’s kid, so when I was a couple of pages in this Tank Girl comic, it reminded me of the classic romantic-comedy Innerspace (1987) starring Dennis Quaid, Meg Ryan and Martin Short. If any of you young kids haven’t seen this movie, then get it streamed or something and if you like comedy, then Martin Short has some scene stealing moments of hilarity. Okay, back to Solid State Tank Girl and their “Innerspace” ride. Tank Girl is feeling down and out and Booga tries to lift her spirits up with some A.M. radio fun but the radio breaks. They decide to head over to their friend’s repair shop to fix the issue and look for geeky toys.
In the store, Booga mysteriously drops to the floor. Their friend Crofty has a plan to save Booga. He’s created V.O.M.I.T. machine where it shrinks and then it can travel inside Booga’s body. Now it’s up to Tank Girl and friends to save Booga’s life and find the culprit behind this. And somebody from Tank Girl’s past comes back to haunt her in this weird and strange Tank Girl tale.
Solid State Tank Girl is not a Batman or Spiderman comic, so if you don’t get the humor and wackiness of it all, then this is not for you. Tank Girl fans will find Solid State another fun jaunt.
