ianmiller01The Art of Ian Miller covers illustrations throughout his incredibly long career.  The 160 pages are jammed with beautifully reprinted art pieces on glossy paper stock.  Ian Miller also teams up with author Tom Whyte to put down in words his thoughts and reflections of his many illustrated pieces.  As a amateur artist myself, I always wondered how artists interpret the writer’s story into art?  It was very insightful as Ian Miller explains how he does it by not just taking an author’s book in whole, but by dissecting everything, taking important words, cutting text, making outlines and then connecting everything to form and shape the art to the author’s story.

ianmiller02It’s not just about the cool dragons, floating castle cities and monsters, but a look at a method to the madness and how Ian Miller creates these art pieces.  There is also insight Foreword by Brian Sibley about Ian Miller’s career and art-style.  So next time you’re at the bookstore, you pick-up a Ray Bradbury or HP Lovecraft book and look at the art, you’ll know who the artist is – Ian Miller.
