The Turkey Alternative: Soy Sauce Turkey with Garlic Noodles

grandma-chicken-noodlesThanksgiving is just around the corner and why make the same old boring Turkey.  In recent years the Deep Fried Turkey and Turducken has been popular.  Why not this year, try a Soy Sauce Turkey and Garlic Noodles recipe?  My content producer Stephen Jang teamed-up with Rayfil Wong from Asian Food Nerd to produce this cooking video on a crackling delicious Soy Sauce Turkey with Garlic Noodles.

Hey, this recipe is from Rayfil’s grandma, so it’s got to be good and I’m a sucker for anything with noodles.  Remember cooking a turkey takes time and patience, so remember to thaw the turkey early, make a good brine to marinate and have a thermostat on hand.

The Instructions:

Ingredients:
12 lb. turkey
1 clove garlic
1 Tbsp. cooking oil

The Brine:
1 cup Superior Light Soy Sauce
1/2 cup Dark Soy Sauce
1 cup brown sugar (dissolved in 1 cup hot water)
20 cups water

5 Spice Rub:
2 Tbsp. 5 Spice Powder
1 tsp. salt (to taste)
