“The Longest and Highest Urban Cable Car”

lapazcablecarVacation time is approaching and like my fellow Retrenders super-blogger Stephen Jang, we did the backpack of Europe adventures and hit-up certain parts of Asia, but I think it’s time to look to South America.  When you’re in the record books for “the longest and highest urban cable car in the world,” well that certainly peaks my interest and I definitely need to go to Bolivia to ride this.

WTF: A Bridge that breathes FIRE!

Okay, this may look cool, but knowing drivers here in the US, this will cause some major rubbernecking and accidents!  In Vietnam, this “Dragon Bridge” built over Han River in Da Nang was opened to the public last month.  The construction of this bridge started in July 2009 costing over $85 million dollars US and has six lanes for cars.  The dragon can release fire or water.  Maybe this is what a futuristic Games of Throne city would look like!

Chris Burden’s Metropolis II

LACMA – Chris Burden’s Metropolis II

Artist Chris Burden took 4 years to build this complicated city in motion sculpture – Metropolis II.  A mix of HO scale train sets, specific built roadways and highway system built around an incredible looking city.  Over 100,000 miniature cars speed around the tracks at 240 mph on a magnet system.  Check out this really cool mini-documentary:
