Lately Hot Wheels has been putting really cool JDM cars from the past and present at retail shelves. As you can see from my picture, I’ve been collecting tons of Hot Wheels JDM-type cars. Hot Wheels Car Designer Jun Imai talks his love for classic Nissan cars and creating the 1/64 diecast scale Nissan Fairlady 2000 for Hot Wheels.
Hot Wheels is well known for some of their crazy and wacky car designs. With the life-size build of the Star Wars X-Wing Carship, Hot Wheels also announced the 1/64 scale diecast model for their toy lineup.
I have around 300-400 diecast cars in my collection. Its a mix of Hot Wheels, Matchbox and Tomica diecasts, but this guy takes the cake. Toy car collector Bruce Pascal’s Hot Wheels collection is valued at over a $1 million dollars. This guy is hardcore with a Hot Wheels inspired room to put his over 3,500 plus Hot Wheels toys. Bruce also has 175 special Hot Wheels prototypes.
Hot Wheels fans get some urban streetwear treatment by Illest. This Illest x Hot Wheels features Hot Wheels inspired patterns with the Illest style. The capsule collection includes hoodies, graphic tees, shirts, stickers and accessories.
Are you looking for a cool portable Star Wars playset? Well, Takara Tomy just released the Star Wars Super Deformation Diorama Death Star. The playset folds into the Death Star and a base for any 3.75″ action figures and Micro Machines & Hot Wheels type Star Wars vehicles and spacecraft.
Mattel Hot Wheels has released several 1:64, 1:43 and 1:18 scale “Back to the Future” AMC DeLorean cars, now this summer June 2016, Hot Wheels will be releasing a limited production run of the 2016 Hot Wheels Elite 1:18 Ultimate Edition Time Machine. This elite edition will feature LEDs, sound effects and extra car parts, so “Back to the Future” fans can make all 5 versions of the AMC DeLorean time machine from the series.

Hey, if you’re a little disappointed with Kevin Feige’s Phase 3 announcements with no Hulk flick with Mark Ruffalo, then you can start smashing things with this Hulk toy set. This is from Mattel (ironic that they make all the DC action figures) – this is the Hot Wheels – Marvel Avengers Assemble Hulk Smash Spin-Out Play Set. Now that was a mouthful, try saying that 3 times aloud.
Artist Chris Burden took 4 years to build this complicated city in motion sculpture – Metropolis II. A mix of HO scale train sets, specific built roadways and highway system built around an incredible looking city. Over 100,000 miniature cars speed around the tracks at 240 mph on a magnet system. The team at Retrenders was happily strolling down the Target toy aisle and spotted this odd looking item. This is clearly not a Pontiac Firebird! The person who returned this item must have bought it and took the original Hot Wheels out and replaced it with a cheap look alike die-cast car. Look at what you buy.
