Doctor Who: Four Doctors Collide!

4 doctors 1If you’re a comic book reader veteran, then you’re probably familiar with the usual once-a-year mega cross-over event like in the DC and Marvel Universe.  Well, this summer 2015, Titan Comics will mix-it up with 4 Doctors and 3 companions meeting up in this 5-issue mini-series.  Doctor Who:  Four Doctors #1 (1-5) follows the Tenth, Eleventh and Twelfth Doctors and their companions on a mission against an unknown foe.  The epic crossover-event is written by Paul Cornell (Wolverine) and illustrated by Neil Edwards
(Assassin’s Creed).

Marada The She-Wolf

Marada She-Wolf CoverThe original She-Wolf … and I don’t mean singer Shakira’s “She Wolf” song back in 2009.  Remember the video?  That was a sure-fire booty-shaking epileptic seizure attack, but I digress.  Now back to the original She-Wolf, the 1980s creation by X-Men famed writer Chris Claremont and British artist John Bolton, the two created Marada the daughter of Rome, warrior and sorceress.

The Art of EPIC

If you not familiar with animation house Blue Sky Studios they are the team that brought you Ice Age and Rio, and this summer movie season they have teamed up with 20th Century Fox Animation for Epic.  Based on William Joyce’s book “The Leaf Men and the Brave Good Bugs”, Epic features an inspiring witty heroine in Mary Katherine and her eccentric father Professor Bomba in researching the “Leafmen” who protect the forest from the forces of evil.  Mary finds herself transported into this magical world by touching glowing leaves and thus, her adventure begins.

The Great Showdowns by Scott Campbell

Have you ever watch a movie and then a great scene appears on screen with an actor and thought to yourself, man that was an epic moment or just an iconic scene that will resonate in your brain forever?  Well artist Scott Campbell thinks so, and his “Great Showdowns” series celebrates cool moments in films of various genres, from the classics, thrillers, romantic-comedies, action flicks and even documentaries.

The art book collects over 130 paintings of “Great Showdowns” and showcases Scott’s eclectic taste in films like The Roman Holiday, Alfred Hitchcock’s Birds and Psycho, Kickass, Black Swan, Say Anything, and others.  The art style is simple and whimsical and will surely put a smile on your face.
