Doctor Who Comics This Week 07/29/15
Usually when it’s a comic book tie-in with popular TV program, the comic book usually sucks. The art is not up to par and the stories and world-building does not tie-in enough to the TV show, there is a disconnect of sorts. But over the past year, I have the pleasure of reading the various Doctor Who releases by Titan Comics and it’s been a blast. Each creative team on the books have done a fine job building upon the Doctor Who universe and mythos. Marvel and DC comics may dominate the comic-book racks, but if you’re looking for something different and something British, then look for these Titan Comics’ Doctor Who books dropping Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at your local comic book store.

Previously on Doctor Who, The Doctor and Clara get a distress call from an old friend, Tiger Mathara so they head to India 2315 but by the time they got to him it’s too late and they find him dead at the hands of a Thugee. While investigating Maratha’s death, they meet Maratha’s daughter Priyanka and find out that Scindia, an organization that worships the deity Kali, are behind everything. The last we see our beloved character, The Doctor gets sent back in time to India 1825 where he is saved by a renegade amazon named Rani Jhulka while Clara and Priyanka are trapped in 2315 surrounded by a horde of Thugee.
Issue 4 starts with the Doctor and Rani, a female bodyguard to the daughter of a spice merchant. She tells the story of how she fell in love with the daughter and how she loses her. NYCC: Look at who’s behind Doctor Who!
Ramen and a Half interviews Andrew Sumner to find out what Titan Entertainment Group is all about at New York Comic Con. First and foremost our team at Retrenders reviews many of Titan Books and we’ve grown to love what they do, because we simply love the content they publish and re-publish. Titan Entertainment is known to reinvent and revive content that had once had their moment in time from cult classics novels, comics, and they publish niche content about historical arts, artists, musicians, early filmmakers and much more. It’s as if Titan reflects on fascinating content and say – “This is entertaining – let’s revive it!”
Titan Entertainment Group is also an official licensee of Doctor Who products and works with popular media entertainment and culture. You can find out about their latest releases and featured products at Titan Merchandise.
