I admit, along with my fellow Retrenders blogger Stevie Jang, we haven’t found a good meat pie place in the SF area. Most of the time, Lahmadjun we’ve eaten have been a little oily, greasy and not fresh. Now Munchies is making me hungry with this piece, “Lebanon’s Lahmadjun” with reporter Aris Roussinos. In Beirut, Aris finds a Armenian/Syrian bakery, the Ichkhanian Bakery where they make the delicious Lahmadjun, which is a flatbread with spiced minced meat on top.

The great thing about Big Wow! Comicfest is that it showcases the many talented artists like HaiNaNu Saulque aka Nooligan. Nooligan talks about his upcoming projects and his very own comic book series Union St. Choir.

Talented artist/creator Ben Seto has been drawing comics since he was in grade school. We catch up with Ben at his artist booth in San Jose, CA for Big Wow! Comicfest 2015.
When it comes to drawing the female anatomy, nobody does it better than Adam Hughes. He’s a comic book artist and creator, but also known to draw many iconic DC and Marvel covers of female superheroes and villains. Here’s our interview with Adam Hughes at Big Wow! Comicfest 2015.
The Canadian comfort dish to eat is Poutine. What is Poutine? You got your fries, cheese curds and gravy sauce. What’s not to like? My fellow Retrenders blogger Stephen Jang says this is the YouTube fast food reviewer to watch Ken Domik. Ken shows us how to make Poutine.
A little tech company Next Thing Co. based in Oaktown, CA is making a super cheap P.C. without all the bells and whistles. The computer is basically a chip with 1GHz, 512MB RAM, 4GB of storage and runs on a Linux OS. The CHIP can connect WiFi or Bluetooth and use any screen like composite out, VGA or HDMI. Again, this $9 computer can do lots of stuff.
This sexy French Canadian and professional Cosplayer became an online hit with her Mortal Kombat costume character – Frost.
Marie-Claude Bourbonnais has a background in fashion design with 16 years of experience. In her interview she tells us how she made it as a cosplayer, a model and a designer – and how she has to sometimes give her fans what they want – a little cleavage and sometimes nudity. “It’s a part of modeling and I wouldn’t be doing it if I wasn’t comfortable with it”, she tells me. She also tells me how latex became a costume fabric hit in the costume making world of cosplay… But what was it really used before that? The latex-fabric utilizing company that gave her the costume-making edge was Polymorphe.
If you’re an anime/manga fan or instant ramen noodle fan, you might find yourself enjoying this promo ad. The commercial drops a lot of anime/manga references. Now I’m hungry.
What would a Rush Hour and Face/Off mashup movie look like? Well, Funny or Die does a funny parody with Sean Combs and Byung-Hun Lee in Rush Hour 4/Face/Off 2:
Before the MC Jins, Far East Movements and Asian American YouTube music stars, there was the Filipino American music movement in 1990s. Of course, I should mention the Pop/R&B music groups and artists like Pinay, Kai, Once Vo1ce, Jocelyn Enriquez, Buffy to name a few, but in the genre of DJing – no one dominated with likes of DJ Q-Bert, Apollo and Mixmaster Mike. They were stars internationally, around the globe mixing and scratching on two turntables. Published by Duke University Press, author Dr. Oliver Wang takes us on a historical journey and ride in Legions of Boom: Filipino American Mobile DJ Crews in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Born and raised in Queens, let rapper Awkwafina aka Nora Lum take you on a journey into New York City. No tourist sight-seeing traps, no Zagat approved bull crap and no Yelp business here on this book guided tour.

One of the most iconic planet destroyer from the Star Wars franchise was the mighty Death Star. This Death Star is supposed to carry weapons of mass destruction, but instead gets a beauty salon, candy store, pet store and more. Custom LEGO builder Steve Price adds some humor here using bricks from the LEGO Friends line.
This is LEGO Friends:
Many custom LEGO builders are now getting on-board and building customs from the LEGO Friends product line. I like the size of the LEGO Friends mini-figures and now custom builders like 3D Foundry has built custom mecha-suits for the Friends mini-figures.
Of course as everybody knows, yesterday was Star Wars Day and WIRED magazine celebrated by spending $800 bucks in building a LEGO Super Star Destroyer ship and then dropping it. Just like a little kid, sometimes it’s fun watching a big grandiose LEGO being smashed into pieces.
We got a new show on our Retrenders’ YouTube channel – it’s Vinyl Pulp. Since we’ve done many events at Kidrobot and Woot Bear, we had in mind on a show just focusing on vinyl toys, toy art collectibles and urban art, and so here it is, the first episode of Vinyl Pulp!
