We first met this cosplaying couple 3 years ago at Big Wow! Comicfest. Anthony Misiano aka Harley’s Joker and Alyssa King aka Joker’s Harley are back at Big Wow! Comicfest in San Jose, CA. Our Ramen host Eddie Ballar catches up with the fun cosplaying partners and gets some relationship advice.
More than just a cosplayer, Meg Turney is also Internet personality. Our Ramen host Ramon Angel interviews Meg Turney on cosplaying and about working at Rooster Teeth.
The great thing about Big Wow! Comicfest is that it showcases the many talented artists like HaiNaNu Saulque aka Nooligan. Nooligan talks about his upcoming projects and his very own comic book series Union St. Choir.
Like artist Adam Hughes, comic book artist Frank Cho also has a knack for drawing sexy female superheroes and villains. Ramen host Ramon Angel catches up with Frank at Big Wow! Comicfest 2015 talking about his latest projects and the “Spider-Gwen” internet buzz.
Talented artist/creator Ben Seto has been drawing comics since he was in grade school. We catch up with Ben at his artist booth in San Jose, CA for Big Wow! Comicfest 2015.
When it comes to drawing the female anatomy, nobody does it better than Adam Hughes. He’s a comic book artist and creator, but also known to draw many iconic DC and Marvel covers of female superheroes and villains. Here’s our interview with Adam Hughes at Big Wow! Comicfest 2015.
This is our 3rd year covering the Big Wow! Comicfest at the San Jose Convention Center. Our Ramen team of Eddie Ballar and Ramon Angel cover the 2-day comic book convention.
Where will the Retrenders gang be at this weekend? Well, in San Jose, CA for the Big Wow! Comicfest 2015, April 18-19 at the San Jose Convention Center. We join the geeky Ramen and a Half crew at the show and will be filming highlights from the 2-day convention and we hope to see you there!
Meet the Power Girl from Vegas – Vegas PG! We swung by her booth and asked if she could give our Ramen and a Half crew a shout out – Mary Jane Watson style! She happily replied, “Well of course I can”.
If Vegas PG is not enjoying the comic convention strip, you can find her being as spokesperson for events and entertaining the world commercially or artfully as an actress.
Build your very own paperboard designer toy figure with Square Headz. Square Headz made its debut at the Big Wow! ComicFest 2014 showing off their simple and fun product. Just a warning – there is assembly required and you need a stick of glue.
When I started out with comics all I cared about was the artist drawing the issue like the Jim Lee’s and Marc Silvestri’s of the world, and I could care less about the writers, inkers or colorists. But as I developed my comic book knowledge, I began to learn about writers, inkers and colorists I liked too. Our Ramen host Ramon Angel got back into comics not just because the art, but the inking by Matt Banning aka BATT on his Green Lantern runs.
Over the years reading comics, you begin to find writers you like to read from, and one of them for me is Greg Rucka. I really enjoyed his Oni Press comics Whiteout and Queen & Country and Greg’s various Batman runs over at DC Comics. Our Ramen host Eddie Ballar interviews Greg Rucka at Big Wow! ComicFest.
Yes, it was a long weekend for the Ramen crew, but here is an “End-All” rundown on what “The Eddie” and Ramon have accomplished at Big Wow Comicfest. And not to mention, being a bit silly and fatigued from a long adventurous weekend.
Hosts: Eddie Ballar and Ramon Angel
Producer: Johnny Moreno
Executive Producer: Stephen Jang
The “Eddie” and Ramon have made it to the end of the line – sort of like coming to the end of the yellow brick road in the Wizard of Oz, but here at Big Wow! Comicfest, we’ve come to the end to meet Stan Lee!We also get to talk to a couple more cosplayers, three girls promoting Castle Corsetry and a local comic artist, and we interview Ivy Doomkitty to find out about her role at Big Wow! Comicfest.
“The Eddie” was able to get a brief interview with Japan’s famous adult manga (comic) artist or Hentai (perverted) comic artists, Toshida Maeda. Click on his name to view his website. He’s very well known and we feel pretty lucky have interviewed him. His comics may be for adult eyes only, but he definitely has solid good advice for anyone – including young artists wanting to get into comics and make it as a career.
We get to hear how it’s like to be a part of Big Wow ComicFest from one of their helpful staff members and then we get two personal views about Big Wow ComicFest from Valerie Perez, who’s the perfect looking cosplay Wonder Woman I’ve ever seen at comic events, and Diana Olivares, who won 2nd place at Big Wow’s costume contest as X-Men’s Storm. And this is the first time she dressed up to cosplay!
