Heroes: Vengeance
NBC TV recently premiered their new super hero/sci-fi series Heroes Reborn and with the introduction of many new characters and typical large cast for a show like this, Titan Comics offers a new monthly Heroes comic book series where it will profile and highlight a character with a 5-part story arc. Heroes: Vengeance #1 finds Oscar Gutierrez as a ordinary mechanic by day and the vigilante El Vengador.
Doctor Who: Four Doctors Collide!
If you’re a comic book reader veteran, then you’re probably familiar with the usual once-a-year mega cross-over event like in the DC and Marvel Universe. Well, this summer 2015, Titan Comics will mix-it up with 4 Doctors and 3 companions meeting up in this 5-issue mini-series. Doctor Who: Four Doctors #1 (1-5) follows the Tenth, Eleventh and Twelfth Doctors and their companions on a mission against an unknown foe. The epic crossover-event is written by Paul Cornell (Wolverine) and illustrated by Neil Edwards
(Assassin’s Creed).
The Action-Packed Finale of Scarlett Couture!
A few months back I reviewed the first issue of Des Taylor’s new Scarlett Couture 4-issue mini-series, and today, the last issue with two variant covers drops today at your local comic book store racks.
“Scarlett and Trent are imprisoned by the villainous Dante Ramon when they learn of the impending destruction of Las Vegas. With less than an hour to stop the devastation, Scarlett and her team must do everything they can to save hundreds of thousands of lives, and finally uncover the evil mastermind behind it all.”
Doctor Who Comics This Week 07/29/15
Usually when it’s a comic book tie-in with popular TV program, the comic book usually sucks. The art is not up to par and the stories and world-building does not tie-in enough to the TV show, there is a disconnect of sorts. But over the past year, I have the pleasure of reading the various Doctor Who releases by Titan Comics and it’s been a blast. Each creative team on the books have done a fine job building upon the Doctor Who universe and mythos. Marvel and DC comics may dominate the comic-book racks, but if you’re looking for something different and something British, then look for these Titan Comics’ Doctor Who books dropping Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at your local comic book store.

Comic Review: Mono # 2 (of 4)
A book set in World War II, following the title character, Mono, an Ape-Human hybrid. With the first few pages following Mono as he takes out Nazi after Nazi, the last ten or so pages is just a small dinner with a Nazi General, Heinrich Eberbach. This issue had a lot of text in it, though that’s not a bad thing. You get to learn a bit about what the General thinks will happen during the war and about his upbringing; and even though it is a slow build up, it seems to lead up to a confrontation between the two characters in the next issue as the General tells his four wolves (Odin, Loki, Baldor and Fenrir) to “Attack” an unknown enemy.
Comic Review: Doctor Who (12th Doctor) #4
Previously on Doctor Who, The Doctor and Clara get a distress call from an old friend, Tiger Mathara so they head to India 2315 but by the time they got to him it’s too late and they find him dead at the hands of a Thugee. While investigating Maratha’s death, they meet Maratha’s daughter Priyanka and find out that Scindia, an organization that worships the deity Kali, are behind everything. The last we see our beloved character, The Doctor gets sent back in time to India 1825 where he is saved by a renegade amazon named Rani Jhulka while Clara and Priyanka are trapped in 2315 surrounded by a horde of Thugee.
Issue 4 starts with the Doctor and Rani, a female bodyguard to the daughter of a spice merchant. She tells the story of how she fell in love with the daughter and how she loses her. You then find that her lover was also killed by the Thugee. After giving her back story to the Doctor, they are ambushed by the Thugee.
A1 Presents Carpe DIEm
We caught a glimpse of this cool looking comic strip Carpe DIEm earlier this year with the Titan Comics/Atomeka anthology collection Monster Massacre Vol. 2. Now this collected edition offers 104 pages of action/adventure and off-beat humor. Carpe DIEm is a team of super agents named after each day of the week hoping to save the world from crazy evil villains.
Carpe DIEm is formed by the mysterious Sir 8th Day who is a little eccentric and clumsy and usually decisions are made by his butler Jude. Jude is like Rocket Raccoon from Guardians of the Galaxy, Jude was created in a test tube and now is an intelligent talking Koala bear. Sir Sunday is an ex-Triad gangsta and is the old and wise field general for the team. Like all super-agent teams, you gotta have a sniper, and that is teenager Lady Saturday. What team doesn’t have a ninja? Like G.I. Joe, Carpe DIEm has Sir Friday the ninja assassin who rarely speaks. And these guys even have a Doctor Strange like character, that is Sir Thursday, the Shaman sorcerer who combines Eastern and Western magic. Like all super teams, you gotta have a big fat guy, Sir Wednesday, he’s the muscle. And why not, let’s throw-in that loud obnoxious like American, Sir Tuesday.
A1 Presents The Weirding Willows
Comic book creator Dave Elliot creates a new Alice in Wonderland universe and re-imagining of famous literary characters from the 19th century. Like ABC/Disney’s TV show Once Upon A Time, “The Weirding Willows” is where the worlds of Wonderland, Oz, Neverland, Olympus, Mars and Earth collide. This trade collects issues #1-6 of The Weirding Willows with bonus commentary and artwork.
Blazing Glory in the Odyssey Vol. 1: History Lesson
What if my favorite action directors Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez had their take on creating Captain America? This hot and spicy jambalaya soup has everything; the supernatural elements, the PG-13 superhero moments, the real-world geopolitical issues, add some zombies (and Dracula to the mix) and of course some bloody violent action into the mix and you get Dave Elliot’s Blazing Glory in Odyssey Vol. 1: History Lesson.Doctor Who: The Eleventh Doctor Issue #1
Doctor Who: The Tenth Doctor Issue #1
Are you craving more David Tennant Doctor Who adventures? Then this all-new series published by Titan Comics should to the trick. Doctor Who: The Tenth Doctor follows the Doctor to New York City to find new companion.
