On brezzy Saturday night, August 28, 2015 in the Richmond District SF, Woot Bear Gallery held the “Vive La Lolligag!” event. Both an art show featuring a collection of contemporary artist reinterpreting the Lolligag vinyl doll and a final release edition of the Lolligag doll, the grape colorway Lolligag figure.
Our Vinyl Pulp team was there to recap the event and interviews with the creators and artists on hand.

This game has only been out for about three weeks, on Android, and it doesn’t seem that I’ll stop playing it anytime soon. When Bethesda announced this game back during E3, I was excited to play something new that was Fallout related; though I would have to wait two months to get my hands on the Android version, but it was worth the wait. Not a day has passed since I haven’t been on this game; leveling up their abilities or sending them out in the Wasteland.
The game is simple enough. You are the Overseer or your own Vault, sort of like the big boss, and your job is to build your Vault while making sure the people that live in your vault don’t die. You’ll have to build water treatment plants, diners and power plants to be able to keep your Vault up and running. While running your Vault, you’re also going to have to deal with fires breaking out, Radroach and Mole Rat infestations, Raider invasions, and the scariest of all… Deathclaw invasions. I’ve had two Deathclaw invasions in a row and let me tell you, it is the worst thing that can happen to you. Your power, water and food storage goes down quickly and they can (and will) kill your Vault dwellers so fast that you had better equip every dweller with good weapons to defend themselves.
I really don’t know how long this game lasts. Is it never ending? Will it game over once you reach your 1000th vault dweller? I’m not sure if I’ll ever find out that answer because once Fallout 4 comes out this November, like so many others, I will probably be playing this game a whole lot less. It’s a fun game. Even if you are not a fan of the Fallout series you can still have fun, trying to see how big you can make your Vault. Thank you Bethesda, for such a simple yet addictive and fun game; I can’t wait to see how your main title is going to turn out.
I give this mobile game an 8/10. So long from Vault 47.
Not many people would remember this animated classic, The Iron Giant which came out in 1999. The Iron Giant gets a multiplex revival of sorts with this Signature Edition re-release with remastered sound and colors. The Iron Giant Signature Edition will hit theaters September 30, 2015 for a limited time.
One of the most popular video games of the year for 2015 is Batman: Arkham Knight and if you haven’t gotten around to playing the game just yet, why not read the official novelization by writer Marv Wolfman to get your Batman fix? Batman: Arkham Knight – the official novel follows the same story-line as the video game with some extra background information and spicy tidbits for DC/Batman comic book lore.
It’s been a year since the Joker has died and a relative calm has presided over Gotham City, but all that is about to change as the Scarecrow unleashes a new fear toxin in a diner, causing everybody to kill each other. The Scarecrow gives an ultimatum to the citizens of Gotham that he will unleash the fear toxin all over Gotham City in a few hours. Now it’s up to Batman and his team to stop Scarecrow’s plan, while all this is happening a new player gets involved. Like in the DC Universe and Jim Lee’s Batman run “Hush” story-line, this new protagonist, the Arkham Knight knows Batman and his allies inside and out. In this fight against Scarecrow, we find that Batman has been exposed to Joker’s “blood” and as he carries on the fight to save Gotham City and his friends, Batman will be tested mentally and physically.
Another Star Wars licensed approved! This time can soup-maker Campbell’s Soup cans will have branded Star Wars themed characters and slogans. Not only that you’re Spaghettios’ and Chicken Pasta Soups will get Star Wars theme-shaped items. I guess it’s time to hit Safeway and collect these cans.
As the DC TV Universe expands with the likes of Arrow, The Flash and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow shows, another tie-in to this universe will be on the CW Seed channel in animation form. The animated show will highlight superhero VIXEN. Here’s a look at her backstory.
Capcom is back again with another collab with Kidrobot. This time, the video game franchise Mega Man gets “Kidrobot-ified.” with a 3″ Dunny line and keychain line-up.
The Mega Man 3″ vinyl series features 13 figures to collect and 1 chase figure. A case will have around 20 blind boxes and probably cost around $230USD and each blind box is priced at $11.99USD.

Another cool episode of Vinyl Pulp is out and this time we are at Kidrobot for the release of Junko Mizuno’s Violet Soda Lady 8″ figure. The Violet Soda Lady was released in 2012 for a 3″ Dunny series. Now, Kidrobot and artist Junko Mizuno go big with an 8″ Dunny Violet Soda Lady figure with some new accessories.
The Disney-only convention D23 made some big splashes and one of them was the video game Kingdom Hearts 3. The Disney x Square Enix collaboration announced two new worlds for the game, the world of Tangled and the Big Hero 6 city San Fransokyo.
This past weekend was the Disney-only convention D23, which had many big movie announcements and other Disney-related items. Imagineer Scott Trowbridge showcased the upcoming Star Wars Land in both Disney parks Orlando and Anaheim. Plus they will be updating Star Tours with a new planet from Episode 7.
A change is coming in comic books and that is the “Rise of the Female Superhero”. Yahoo! News with Katie Couric releases a neat documentary with a chock full of interviews with industry giants like Jim Lee, Grant Morrison and many female creators Amanda Conner, G. Willow Wilson, Gail Simone and many others about the change and rise of the female superhero protagonist.
There have been many video games where you can play as tiger, shark, cat, even a turtle, and now a goat. The Goat Simulator game has been available for a couple of month’s now, but now it’s a FREE download. The Goat Simulator is IGN’s Free Game of Month. You play a goat and get points by tearing-up a rural town. The Goat Simulator is available for iPhone, iPad and iTouch.
If you’re a comic book reader veteran, then you’re probably familiar with the usual once-a-year mega cross-over event like in the DC and Marvel Universe. Well, this summer 2015, Titan Comics will mix-it up with 4 Doctors and 3 companions meeting up in this 5-issue mini-series. Doctor Who: Four Doctors #1 (1-5) follows the Tenth, Eleventh and Twelfth Doctors and their companions on a mission against an unknown foe. The epic crossover-event is written by Paul Cornell (Wolverine) and illustrated by Neil Edwards
(Assassin’s Creed).

Adult collectors familiar with the 1970s/80s era Jumbo Machinder toys and, of course Star Wars get a East meets West collaboration thanks to Super7 and Funko. This is the Super Shogun Boba Fett – Empire Version. First off, the box packaging looks awesome with the Japanese kanji and logos. The figure stands 24″ tall with rotating wheels on the feet, spring-loaded firing rocket from jetpack and wrist.
I had fond memories as kid reading and looking at pop-up books. Thanks to Poposition Press, we now get pop-up books for us older folks. The Pop-Up Art Book features 6 incredible art pieces by Aaron Woes Martin, Skinner, kozyndan, Junko Mizuno, Tara McPherson and Jim Mahfood.
We’ve been a little behind editing many videos from various events we’ve attended this summer. Here’s a quick recap of the SF Anime Festival & Cosplay in Japantown that took place on July 18, 2015. The Ramen crew was there to see all the cosplay fun and meet-up with special cosplay guest Reika from Japan.
One of the legends of anime is Hayao Miyazaki and this fan-made anime-video tribute is pretty cool. As you watch the video montage, many of Hayao Miyazaki’s characters appear in a roll call. Sit back and enjoy.
A few months back I reviewed the first issue of Des Taylor’s new Scarlett Couture 4-issue mini-series, and today, the last issue with two variant covers drops today at your local comic book store racks.

Usually when it’s a comic book tie-in with popular TV program, the comic book usually sucks. The art is not up to par and the stories and world-building does not tie-in enough to the TV show, there is a disconnect of sorts. But over the past year, I have the pleasure of reading the various Doctor Who releases by Titan Comics and it’s been a blast. Each creative team on the books have done a fine job building upon the Doctor Who universe and mythos. Marvel and DC comics may dominate the comic-book racks, but if you’re looking for something different and something British, then look for these Titan Comics’ Doctor Who books dropping Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at your local comic book store.
